Tomorrow is the end of the Mayan Calendar and thousands of people from all over the world have gathered here in Merida. The listing of activities is long and range from lectures by archeologists and historians to dancing in the streets, and even gatherings to meditate at some of the larger Maya ruins.
We will be attending the end of the world party at the Merida English Library tomorrow, but really I am just loving the carrots! Today we went to the main mercado and for less than .75 US I purchased 2.2 kilos of yummy delish carrots. Sliced, steamed and with butter and pepper they are the best carrots I have ever eaten!
It's so nice to enjoy life's simple pleasures!
ReplyDeleteWhen will you arrive in Jan? We are here to the 4th..
DeleteBy "main mercado," I assume you mean the one in Parque Santiago or Santa Ana? Or the San Benito behemouth?
ReplyDeleteThe big one south of the main plaza... BTW.. we were just at your house less than 10 minutes ago. There were at least 10-12 workers there...looks like they are making some progress. I took a couple of photos. Your street looks great and you are only about 7-8 blocks from our house.
DeletePlease share the photos! I haven't received any for a while. I'm so envious that you're enjoying Christmas in Merida. Merry Christmas!!
DeleteWow, the house looks great. Happy holidays, Geoff and Barbra
